HOW DOES IT WORK?

HIFU is a non-surgical skin treatment which is used to tighten, smooth, and firm your skin. During the HIFU skin treatment, HIFU energy quickly causes the treated tissue to warm up. This heat creates something called a thermal injury which tricks the body into repair mode, thus producing new collagen and elastin.

The treatment can target different depths of your skin, from the top layer all the way down to the SMAS which is a layer over the top of your muscle, which results in tighter, firmer, and smoother skin.

Collagen is a protein found in the skin that helps to keep it firm and supple. As we age, the production of collagen slows down, leading to the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. HIFU works by stimulating the production of new collagen, which can help to tighten and lift the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?

Doctors usually begin HIFU facial rejuvenation by cleaning the chosen area of the face and applying a gel.

During the procedure, a handheld device is placed on the skin, which emits high-frequency ultrasound waves in short bursts. These waves penetrate the skin and heat up the deeper layers, stimulating the production of collagen.

Each session typically lasts 30–60 minutes.

HIFU can be uncomfortable for patients but is tolerated by most. It requires no anesthetic or numbing.
